Digital Arrest Cases in MP: In Madhya Pradesh, thugs have adopted a new method of cheating and that is digital arrest. Cyber thugs trap people online and loot lakhs of rupees. In the recent past, the incidents of cyber fraud are increasing rapidly in the state. These people call themselves police officers and threaten them by saying that there is a big case against the person concerned. On the phone through which they contact, their picture appears to be that of an officer in police uniform, due to which the person gets trapped in their trap.
On seeing this picture, the person concerned gets scared and becomes a victim of fraud. In the capital, a woman professor and a retired officer have been made victims of these cyber thugs. Earlier, a woman engineer was also made a victim by these thugs. Apart from this, such incidents have also taken place in many other places including Gwalior, Indore.
The victims said this
If the victims are to be believed, they receive a phone call and are told that there is a big complaint against them and then they are told that they will be digitally arrested. In digital arrest, the person is monitored through video calling. During this, the thug keeps a complete watch on the victim through video calling and threatens him and also assures to end the case only after paying the desired amount. In such a situation, the person gets trapped in the trap of the thug and pays the desired amount online.
Police said this on cyber fraud
A police officer says that educated people are falling prey to cyber fraud. These are the people who use mobile phones more, the fraudsters threaten them over the phone and they fall into their trap. Those who are aware do not fall prey to these intimidators.
Cyber Crime ACP Sujit Tiwari says that common people should be aware to avoid such frauds. He says that this fraud is done by threatening arrest, if one has not done anything wrong then people need not be afraid. If any such call comes, the police should be informed.
